Busman's Holiday No.1

Short story: A normally uneventful journey is interrupted by a woman in distress.

Sample Excerpt:

Between Ballitore and Athy there is about twelve miles of extremely lonely country road with hardly any roadside houses – just long farm lanes leading down to the road.  As I approached one of these a girl suddenly appeared and flagged me down with a frantic, desperate signal.  I stopped, wound down the window and asked what the matter was.  I then realized what a lovely girl she was.  Not quite Celia Hammond but would definitely pass for her sister.  Her jeans and blouse were expensive, much more Brown Thomas than Dunne’s Stores, her shoes were expensive Gucci style loafers and her jewellery represented two weeks output from the mines at Glendalough.  Her face was streaked with tears and she was distraught.
