Where do you write |
Usually on my laptop in my study. However I did write a large chunk of "Going nowhere ..." with a panoramic view of the mountains in southern Spain! |
|
Genres you most enjoy writing and why |
I write about the tangled and complicated world of relationships, friendships, work and, well, real life experiences. Why? because I've been through many of the emotions I write about and I think it's important to be able to relate to your characters and to make them believable - you need to know why they are feeling the way they do! |
|
What inspired you to become an author |
A difficult relationship I was going through. I needed some escapism and writing seemed a good way to express my inner feelings and confusions in my quest for 'the happy ending!' |
|
What is your favourite novel/author, and why |
'Tender is the Night' by F. Scott Fitzgerald. A classic that haunted me for weeks after I'd finished it. I adore 'To Kill A Mockingbird' by Harper Lee and claim that Lisa Jewell's 'The Truth about Melody Browne' is phenomenal! Lisa is one of the best author's out there right now - a rare talent! |
|
Top tip for new authors |
It's an old cliché, but write about what you know or what interests you. Everyone believes they have a novel in them, but only very few dot the final sentence! |
|
Most comical typo |
Nothing side-splitting, trust me ..... |
|
Unusual fact about yourself |
A train journey to Gloucester inspired me to write "Going nowhere ..." The first three chapters are actually what happened that day ... read the preview to find out the start |

Any other information you would like to share |
You can't write a novel overnight - be patient and set realistic goals. Don't give up on an idea - it might mean leaving your draft untouched for weeks whilst you create and formulate fresh ideas, but follow it through |
